Gluten-Free Alcoholic Drinks


 
 
Gluten is a protein that is found in different eatables like grains, wheat, barley, rye, etc. Some people are sensitive to gluten and gluten rich alcoholic drinks. These allergic individuals may also be suffering from celiac disease. The people who are allergic to gluten may suffer from allergic reactions to abdominal bloating, headaches, diarrhea, gas, migraine, etc. if they consume gluten rich alcoholic drinks.

Any alcoholic drink only has gluten if it is added after the distillation of the drink. Mostly, all different kinds of alcoholic beverages are gluten free. Those alcoholic drinks and beverages that during any time of their manufacturing process use cereals cannot be classified as gluten free. USA laws specify for this provision.

If a manufacturer has specially signified on the pack of the drink that it is gluten free, then it is fit for consumption for those who are allergic to gluten. There are many gluten free drinks available today. Some are low calorie cocktails and others are low-calorie pure drinks.

Beer- Gluten Free

The beers that are gluten free are made from ingredients which do not contain gluten. These include corn, sorghum, rice, buckwheat, etc. Some beers that are gluten free are Dragon’s Gold, Epic Gultenator, etc.

Hard Cider-Gluten Free

Almost all cider drinks are obtained from apples and some other kinds of fruits. They do not contain gluten. Some of these may have enzyme and barley additions to them so that they are more flavored. Some of the hard cider gluten free brands are Angry Orchard, Ace Pear Cider etc.

Wine- Gluten Free

Any person suffering from celiac disease my consume wine as all kinds of wines including port wine, cognac, champagne, brandy, vermouth, sherry etc are non allergic in nature.

Wine Coolers-Gluten Free

Most of the wine coolers offered today are manufactured using barley and other products of barley. The malt versions have gluten while others do not.

Gin-Gluten Free

Most of the gins are made using cereal grains that contain gluten. The end product is not advertized as gluten free but no gluten remains in the final product after distillation. “Cold River Gin” is a gluten free brand and is obtained from distillation of potatoes.

Rum- Gluten Free

Rum is gluten free and is considered to be sage for celiac. It is distilled and manufactured using sugar cane. Bacardi Gold and Cruzan Rum are two gluten free brands.

Gluten Free Cocktails

Cocktails made from non gluten containing alcoholic drinks are safe for celiac and do not cause any kind of allergic reaction.
